SKOWHEGAN, ME Harold P. Sylvain - 92, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2017 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, ME. The son of Patrick and Isabelle (Marcoux) Sylvain, he was born in Skowhegan on June 6, 1924. Mr. Sylvain served honorably in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War ll. He was a participant in the Battle of Anzio Beachhead. He was honored to have served his country and received a Purple Heart, Silver and Bronze Stars, The European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign and other additional medals. He was a life member of DAV, VFW and Anzio Beachhead. Harold worked many years for Goldie's Woodworking Shop as a finish carpenter. After the shop closed, he worked at Gifford’s Dairy. In his retirement years, he enjoy walking, meeting people and exchanging their life stories. He is survived by a loving daughter, Patricia A. Kozak of Skowhegan, ME; a son, Robert Sylvain, two sisters, Loretta Cote of Rutland, VT and Marie and her husband Larry Thompson of Cabot, VT, five grandchildren and one great grandson. There will be no public visiting hours. A committal service with military honors will be held at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, ME on May 25, 2017 at 2:00p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME.
