Cynthia MacLeod Obituary

East Millinocket – Cynthia M. Macleod, 81, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born May 23, 1935 in Millinocket to C. Mahlon and Beulah (Glidden) Williams. She graduated in 1953 from Schenck High School and in 1958 married Roderick MacLeod, Sr. As most women of that era, Cynthia was a stay at home mom caring for her five children. Cynthia enjoyed over 30 years of camping at Jo-Mary Lake with her family. As her sons were growing up and for many years after, she was an active member of the Katahdin Area Boy Scouts where she obtained the highest honor of the Silver Beaver Award. Cynthia loved to play cards and had been a member of the women's pitch club in East Millinocket. She managed to share this love of playing cards and games to many of us in the family especially her grandchildren. Cynthia is survived by her sons Roderick MacLeod, Jr. of Portland, John MacLeod and wife Beverly of East Millinocket, Gary MacLeod of East Millinocket, David MacLeod and Lynne Hale of Medway, daughter Dianne Rounds and husband Thom of Newburgh, and her sister Judy Cleaves and husband Elbridge of Weston. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Kayla, Courtney, Jacob, Jessica, Ryan, Joshua, Caitlyn, Jenna and three great-grandchildren, Mallory, Carter, and Hadley, as well as many extended family members. In addition to her parents, Cynthia was predeceased by her husband Roderick MacLeod, Sr. in 1999, her grandson Ian Patrick MacLeod, brothers-in-law John MacLeod, William MacLeod, and sisters-in-law, Christena MacLeod, Lillian Huston and Ruth Deegan. In remembrance of Cynthia, friends and relatives are invited to a time of visitation with the family at 54 Elm Street, East Millinocket on Thursday, December 1st from 3 pm to 7 pm. There will be a private family interment at the East Millinocket Cemetery in the spring. No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.
