Eleanor Haining Waldoboro, Maine Obituary

Eleanor Haining

Eleanor I. Haining, 91, passed away peacefully at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home in the morning of October 18th after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. The daughter of Llewellyn and Mable Oliver, she was born in 1925 in Bath, Maine. She married Philip Haining in 1944, and settled in Brunswick, where they built a home and lived for over 50 years. Eleanor was employed for 25 years with the Pine Tree Society for Crippled Children and loved her work there. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking breads, knitting, gardening, music, playing piano and singing. She had a lovely singing voice. Her happiest days, by far, were spent at the family cottage on Pemaquid Lake in Nobleboro. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Philip and son Stephen. She is survived by her two daughters, Judith Manker of Brunswick and Holly Haining-Zulieve of Waldoboro, grandsons Anthony Monfiletto of Damariscotta Mills and Jonathan Monfiletto of Dresden, granddaughters Alisa Slaugh and Melissa Albee of Utah, along with seven great grandchildren and one great grandson. Many, sincere thanks to everyone at Cove’s Edge, but especially to Carol Genthner and Sally Silverman, whose thoughtful and loving care provided comfort to Eleanor and her family for over six years. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Hall’s Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074. Hall’s of Waldoboro has care of the arrangements.
