John Jackson

John Edward Jackson, Jr, affectionally known as “Eddie Bug”, born November 1, 1941 transitioned from this life December 28, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Jackson, Sr. and Florence Catherine Jackson and a brother, Rudolph Jackson. He is survived by his four children, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Karen, John III Jackson, one daughter-in-law Twann Jackson; eight grandchildren, Nikolas Cody, Danielle and Julius Parker, Alonzo and Marcus Peñate, Chayse Jackson, Adriana and Cameron Murrell, 8 great-grandchildren, Ayden, Lyrik, Harleigh, Ryleigh, Layla, Gabriella, Marcus Jr, Alani; two sisters, Maryann Jacobs (Johnnie), Rosemarie Jackson; three brothers, Thomas (Ivy), Clyde (Cathy) and Robert Jackson (Pam), one sister-in-law, Eleanor Jackson; nieces and nephews, Denise (Dedee)Johnson, Tina Cunningham, Terri Hinds, Dedra Jacobs, John Cunningham, Merle, Arnetta, James (Tony), Andre, Jackee’, Joseph and Kathleen Jackson; Gloria and Sophie Franklin, Wanda Thompson, Erica and Stephen Bullard, Mary Ellen Schroth, great-niece, Aaliyah Ramsey and a host of cousins and close friends. Eddie was born and raised in Potomac, MD on his parent’s farm on Oakland Drive. He attended Montgomery County Public schools. He graduated from the Carver High School in Rockville, MD. He had any jobs, but the one he enjoyed the most was working at Howard University in Washington, DC as the head of maintenance. Eddie loved fast cars! He was a clown as a kid with a magnetic personality and an artist who loved drawing cartoon characters. He also made leather purses. He was an excellent cook, which he learned from his cherished mother. He enjoyed teasing his family and friends and often referred to family by their nicknames; Stephanie was Skinny; Karen was Kearnie; Jeff was Jeffro Bodine; Dedee was Sam; Tina was Old Yella and Rose was Charlie and many more. He loved old school Motown music and enjoyed watching cowboy movies. He was also a life-long Redskins fan…HTTR. Eddie loved Eddie. He loved referring to himself as “Pretty Eddie” and would spend hours getting ready to go out on the weekends. From pressing his clothes to shining his shoes, to the meticulous care of his hair and skin. The only the other thing he spent that much time and care on was his car. He would spend countless hours on a Saturday washing and waxing his car. No one was allowed near his freshly washed precious car which was his pride and joy. In his later years he spent his days caring for his beloved great-niece, Aaliyah Ramsey. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at North Creek Community Center, 20125 Arrowhead Road, Montgomery Village, MD from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
