Richard R. “Dick” Ponzini, 90, beloved husband of Constance (Bramante) Ponzini, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, died on Tuesday, June 4 at his home. Born in Amesbury on May 10, 1923, he was the son of the late Enrico and Maria (Bocedi) Ponzini.

Dick grew up in Amesbury and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, class of 1941. He attended North Georgia College School of Engineering and served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater, 55th Engineering Battalion of the 10th Armored Division. Dick graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed as an engineer for General Electric, Raytheon, Stone & Webster and AVCO/Textron.

Dick was a communicant and member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, as well as a member of the Vittori Rocci Post. He was a humble, truly multi-talented man, who enjoyed hiking and camping with his family. He lived his life faithfully, with kindness and complete devotion to his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children: Lucia and her husband Steven Kisiel of Phoenix, AZ; Maria and her husband David Decker of Beverly; Andrea and her husband Marty Jones of Rio Rancho, NM; Richard, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie of Burlington; Robert and his wife Christine of Windham, NH; and Claudine and her husband Mack Asrat of Campbell, CA; fourteen adoring grandchildren: Abel and Mersha Kisiel; Zack Decker, Erica Clapp and her husband Jesse, Caroline Decker; Anthony and Nicholas Ponzini; Juliana, Dominic, Cecilia, Sophia and Rocco Ponzini; and Demetrius and Samuel Asrat; and two sisters: Lily Hodge of Amesbury, and Mary Parino of Haverhill.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch Street, Beverly, on Friday, June 14, at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly Location) on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M.
