Palmer-James R. Moriarty, 74 of 250 Shearer St., Palmer, passed away Sunday at Palmer Healthcare. James was born in Springfield, a son of the late Raymond and Ella (Shea) Moriarty. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a longtime Springfield resident and had previously worked for the City of Springfield at Bondi’s Island and also worked as a landscaper. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Gloria (Madison) Moriarty, 2 daughters Brenda Martin and Robin Moriarty and by his siblings. He is survived by 3 sons, James R. Jr. of Southbridge, Raymond A., of Springfield, Shawn of Boston, 2 daughters, Alessandra Moriarty of Ware, Dawn Moriarty of Springfield, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visiting hours for James are Thursday, Oct.6, 2011 from11:30AM -1PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral, 21 Tinkham Rd, Springfield. A Funeral Home service will follow Thursday at 1Pm concluding with Committal Rites and Military Honors at the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA.
