Of Waltham passed away Monday morning, November 21, 2016 at the Care One Center of Newton. She was 78. Born and raised in Waltham to the late Raphael and Assunta (Zanca) Taranto; she was a lifelong resident of Waltham and a graduate of Waltham High School. Ms. Taranto worked as an administrative assistant at Tufts Medical for many years. Catherine enjoyed going to the Waltham Senior Center, where she taught ceramics, taking trips to Foxwoods, playing BINGO, and going out to eat. She especially loved being with her family at holiday gatherings. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Ed Taranto of CT, Diane Coolidge of Berlin, MA, Mark Taranto of CT, Linda Shwartz of Hudson, Paula Baudner of CT, Tina Spears of Bradford, Ben Taranto, Jr. of NH, Christine Taranto of CT, and Lisa Hassett of Clinton. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. She was the beloved sister of the late Felix Taranto and his wife Edna, Nancy Taranto, Thomas Taranto and his wife Dawn, and Bernard Taranto. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9 - 10 a.m. with a memorial service in celebration of Catherine's life at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Parking attendants will be on duty.
