Francis George Cannistraro

Francis George Cannistraro 90, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Waltham passed away on December 31, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family and his wife of 66 years. Born in Waltham, Massachusetts he had been a resident here for more than 65 years before moving to Florida some 25 years ago. After graduating from Saint Charles High School in 1944 he joined the United States Army and served his Country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from The Polaroid Corporation in 1988 where he was a crew chief in the instant film manufacturing division. Frank/Dad/Grampy loved his family more than anything else in the whole world. He was happiest during the holidays and family gatherings when he was surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He believed that love of family was the only thing that mattered in life and his legacy was to leave a close knit, loving family who will miss him dearly. He was the son of the late Salvatore and Vincenza (DeMatteo) Cannistraro, brother of the late Charles Cannistraro & Joseph Cannistraro and the father of the late Francis Cannistraro. His is survived by his wife of 66 years Marie Diane (Yancey) Cannistraro, his daughters, Marie DeProfio and husband Steve of Waltham, Jo-Ann Cucinotta and husband Joel of York Maine, his son David D. Cannistraro and wife Gail of Littleton, daughter-in-law Marilene Cannistraro and his brother Louis Cannistraro of Tewksbury, In addition he leaves 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two nieces and one nephew. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, January 14th, 2017 from 2 - 5 p.m. in the “Mary Catherine Chapel” of the Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody Street, Waltham. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be conducted at 5pm.
