Of Nashua, New Hampshire passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday evening December 19th, 2016 after a long illness at the age of 78. Born on May 17, 1938 in Newton; daughter of the late Columbus Merullo and Virginia (Papa) Merullo, Jean was raised in Newton and lived for many years in Waltham before moving to Nashua, New Hampshire. A graduate of Newton High School with the Class of 1956, Jean was employed as a Dental Assistant with Dr. Robert Evans at West Newton Dental Associates for many years. After her retirement she accompanied her husband to numerous disc jockey events through the years. She made floral arrangements and different types of decorations for weddings. Jean loved to sing and for years with her brother traveled throughout the United States to Military Bases with the USO to perform in various shows. She was a member of the Hooksett New Hampshire Entertainers and performed with the Silver Stars at the Palace Theatre. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and in her spare time enjoyed bowling in several different leagues. Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years Michael J. Hines, her loving children Thomas Maron of Norton, MA, Dawna Maron of Townsend, Jacqueline Bryson of Pepperell, and the late Mark Christopher Maron, her 10 cherished grandchildren, 7 ½ adored great grandchildren, and her dear cousin Richard Merullo and his wife Patricia of Natick. In addition he is survived by many adoring nieces & nephews and close friends. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Jean’s Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Tuesday morning Dec. 27th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel on Monday Dec. 26th from 2 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Jean’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
