Of Waltham, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family January 6, 2017 at Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge. She was 85. Jeanne was born in East Galloway, New Brunswick, Canada on March 29, 1931 the youngest of eight children born to the late Isidore Richard and Catherine (Richard) Richard. After graduating from Richibucto High School, in Richibucto, New Brunswick, she moved to Toronto, Ontario where she was employed by the Canadian National Telegraph and Eaton Department Store. In 1953, Jeanne immigrated to the United States, joining her siblings in Waltham, Massachusetts. She was employed in the business office of Grover Cronin, and later worked in the business office of the Reece Corporation in Waltham. In 1956, she married John F. Petrie at St. Joseph's Church in Waltham. In 1958, at the birth of her first child, Jeanne left the workforce to raise her family. She was a devoted mother to her children and provided a fun, loving and supportive home for her family. In 1978, Jeanne returned to the workforce and was employed as an Electronics Buyer for the Greene Shaw Corporation in Newton until her retirement. With a quick wit and an adventurous spirit, Jeanne pursued many interests. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Caribbean Islands, and was especially fond of her trips to Hawaii and Bermuda. In addition, she spent many summers vacationing in Gloucester with her family. She enjoyed Country music, Irish music, ballroom dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, card games, bingo, and most of all spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. She was a loyal follower of the Boston Red Sox. Devoted & Loving mother of Brian D. Petrie and his wife MJ of Framingham, Lynn F. Poisson and her husband Michael of Wayland, and Craig S. Petrie of Waltham. Four cherished grandsons, Jonathan M. Poisson of Wayland, and Stephen C. Petrie, Gary M. Petrie and Keith D. Petrie all of Worcester. Survived by her siblings, Roselyn Weagle and Rita Arsenault of Waltham, and May Melanson of Lowell. She is predeceased by her siblings, Edgar, Joseph and Yvon Richard of New Brunswick, Canada, and Lucy OʼBrien of Wellesley. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of Jeanne's Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St, WALTHAM on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held private for Jeanne’s Family. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
