RICHARD "DICK" McANDREWS

Of Burlington, MA passed away peacefully at Winchester Rehabilitation Center on December 20, 2016.

Richard was born on September 23, 1938 in Waltham. He was the son of the late John and Velma (Fraiser) McAndrews.

In his life, Richard was a loving, generous, hardworking family man who worked until he was 70, providing for his family. He was originally from Waltham until moving to Chelmsford to raise his family. He was a great father and never missed a sporting event involving his children and grandchildren. Richard will be remembered for his love of watching sports on TV, reading books and playing cards. He embraced his Irish ancestry. He proudly served his Country by enlisting in the Navy and serving on the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet from 1955-1959.

Richard leaves behind his former wife and loving friend, Ann McAndrews of Wakefield, his children, Richard McAndrews Jr. from Burlington, Colleen Skinner and her husband John of Wilmington, Jeannie McAndrews and her husband Scott Nigro from Salem, NH, Kimmy Lirette and her husband Ray from Derry, NH, and Robin Medina from Dracut. Also, his brothers and sisters, John McAndrews and his wife Beverly from West Yarmouth, Judy Melanson from Waltham, Tommy McAndrews and his wife Marie from Bellingham, Linda Gaudet and her husband George from Waltham, and Bobby McAndrews and his wife Patty from Marlborough. His grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Skinner, John and Eric McAndrews, Kristine and Michael Medina, and Brian and Joseph Lirette. He also has four great-grandchildren, as well as many loving family members and dear friends who will miss him very much.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a gathering from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm with a Life Celebration starting at 3pm. Parking attendants will be on duty.
