Denver Jones Jr. 77 of rural Harrison passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Denver was born September 3, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Denver and Dorothy A. Jones. Mr. Jones honorably served his country in the United States Army. Denver was united in marriage to Jean on September 16, 1960 in Pontiac, Michigan. Denver had resided in Harrison since 2005, coming from Rochester Hills, Michigan. Denver was an avid fisherman, always taking the opportunity to wet a line. He also enjoyed watching wildlife, tinkering in his garage, where he was known to fix anything that was in need of repair, not only for himself, but family, friends and even strangers. Denver enjoyed making wooden cutting boards for his family and friends. Denver was in the process of making custom benches for each of his children. Mr. Jones was a very caring, generous, and giving man. Surviving Mr. Jones is his loving wife of fifty five years, Mrs. Jean M. Jones of Harrison, four daughters: Sheryl DeMattia and husband Joe of Clawson, Michigan, Micki Denean and husband Larry of Shelby Township, Michigan, Lisa Steigerwald and husband Terry of Holly, Michigan and Dottie Olson and husband Dean of Lake Orion, Michigan, one son, Dean Jones and wife Kim of Emmett, Michigan, eighteen grandchildren: Bridgette Baldwin and husband Doug, Danny Jones and wife Shawnna, Jason DeMattia and wife Ashley, Phillip Sprague, Joey DeMattia, Mitchell DeMattia, Brittney Santos, Eric Denean, Brandon Denean, Tabitha Steigerwald, Kyle Jones, Aaron Jones, Hannah Steigerwald, Chris Jones, Marco DeMattia, Karly Jones, Shelby Steigerwald and Angelina Jones, twelve great-grandchildren: Brooke Smith, Caleb Sprague, Carson Sprague, Kaydence Jones, Dylan Jones, Blake Danley, Drew Baldwin, Aubrey Sprague, Ella Baldwin, Enrique Santos, Avery DeMattia and Elijah Sprague, two sisters: Joanne Devault of Roscommon, Michigan and Suzie Nelson and husband David also of Roscommon, two brothers: Dick Jones of Brown City, Michigan and David Jones of Harrison, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his two beloved Pomeranians: Abby and Bailey. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Life services in honor of Mr. Jones will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Mr. Dean Jones officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to gather on Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service for sharing of memories and stories. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the V.F.W.
