Albert Kacynski

Albert “Bert” E. Kacynski Albert “Bert” E. Kacynski, of Ludington passed away unexpectedly on his 90th birthday, January 2, 2017 at home. He was born in 1927, in Hart, son of the late Walter and Antusi (Walnus) Kacynski. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 24, 1945, serving until his honorable discharge on December 19, 1946. Bert married Lorraine Polcin on August 29, 1953 in Ludington at St. Simon Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2014. Bert completed 8th grade, and he had a strong work ethic and a lot of “common sense.” He achieved a position as an Industrial Craftsman at Dow Chemical in Ludington. He worked at Dow for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was passionate about hunting, trout fishing, trapping and spending time with his family. Bert is survived by his 4 sons, David (Joellyn) Kacynski of Green Bay, Ken (DeLynn) Kacynski of Ludington, Greg (Janet Andersen) Kacynski of Fountain and Brian (Dena) Kacynski of Washington, IL; daughter, Marlene (Steve) Berens of Ludington; grandchildren, Kevin Seymour, Karen (Zach) DeYoung, Paul, Kristopher, Nicholas, Jacob, William and Benjamin Kacynski; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia and Case DeYoung; brother, Vincent Kacynski of Hart; sisters-in-law, Mabel Polcin, Judy Polcin and Lucille Polcin all of Ludington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; granddaughter, Antonia Lynn “Anni” Kacynski; sisters, Virginia Ridulis, Anna Sparling and Phyllis Burmeister; brothers, Joseph, John, Anthony, Peter, Walter and Alfonse “Al”; and son-in-law, David Seymour. The funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Saturday January 7, 2017 at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Wayne Wheeler celebrant. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 till 7:00PM on Friday January 6, 2017 at Oak Grove Funeral Home, with the evening vigil being held at 6:30PM, officiated by his grandson, Reverend Paul Kacynski. Visitation will also be held on Saturday morning at the church from 10:00AM until time of mass. Burial will take place in the spring of 2017 at Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery in Ludington. Memorial contributions in memory of Bert may be directed to the Anni Kacynski Scholarship Fund c/o UW-Green Bay Foundation, UW-Green Bay CL805, 2420 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay, WI 54311-7001.
