Charles William Kindig, age 91 of Grawn, MI, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born September 27, 1925 in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of Emery and Alta (Arndt) Kindig. He attended Culver Tech Academy and served in the US Navy during World War II. On August 6, 1977 Charles married Regina Ruminski at St. Pete’s Church. He worked for LaPorte Foundry and Traverse City Gray Iron. He was a member of The Moose, PNA (Polish National Alliance) and the American Legion. He especially enjoyed trips to Wisconsin, fishing and bowling.

Survivors include his wife Regina of Grawn, MI, daughters; Elizabeth Kindig of Grawn, MI, Sarah (Koby) Homan of Interlochen, MI, Anna (John) Oakley of Honor, MI, Sue Utpatel of Michigan City, IN and Linda Rogers of California, son Chuck Kindig of Colorado, granddaughters; Cassandra and Haley Homan, Cera and Kirsten Oakley, Lisa Thomas, Rachel Werdin and Dana Hammond, grandsons; Timothy Kindig, Mike, Bryan and Toddy Utpatel, 15 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, sisters; Juanita Curless and Nancy Kindig of LaPorte, IN and Chloe Bach of IL ,and brothers; Robert and Gerald Kindig of LaPorte, IN.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Rosemae Cowgill, sisters Sharon Greenlaw and June Wintek, brothers; Jim Kindig, Gordon Kindig and Warren Kindig.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at 7816 Lois Ave., Grawn, MI. Another Celebration will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm at The Moose Lodge 980, 1180 Franklin St., Michigan City, IN. Burial will take place in the spring at a small ceremony in Michigan.
