Jean L. Heuer Obituary

Jean L. Heuer age 89 of Manistee, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Grancare AFC in Custer, MI after an extended illness. She was born August 23, 1927 in Manistee, the daughter of Charles and Katherine Fredrickson. Jean married Ervin Heuer on July 19, 1947 in Manistee.

Jean worked at the garment factory (Glen of Michigan) for some years until she got married and temporarily moved to Chicago for 1 year. She started volunteering for the American Red Cross at the old Mercy Hospital also known as Manistee Heights Care Center in 1970, working on blood drives and the Blood Mobile for over 30 years. She always said she really loved her work and looked forward to working on the next Blood Mobile. She spent many hours sewing, knitting and doing needlework which she enjoyed very much. She also loved the many trips they took travelling the western USA and Canada and enjoyed camping with her grandkids. Jean was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manistee.

Survivors include her husband Ervin, 2 daughters; Sharon Madsen of Brandon, FL and Cynthia (Warren) Garvey of Bitely, MI, 4 grandchildren; Bradley (Leslie) Mikula of Sumter, SC, Kristin (Randy) Russell of Brandon, FL, Angeline (Bob) York of Creighton, MO and Robert Schudlich of Alexandria, VA, 10 great-grandchildren; Misty, April and Bobbi Jo York, Thomas, Angel, Daniel and Nicholas Schudlich, Amber and Randy Russell and Tyler Mikula, Sisters-in-law; Dorothy Thorson and LaVerne Heuer Myers as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters; Ruth Johnson and Marlene Smith, her granddaughter Dawn Schudlich and many aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manistee at 11:00 AM with Rev. James Schmeling officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jean’s name can be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manistee.
