LaMoin Mitchell

LaMoin "Mitch" Mitchell Mr. LaMoin "Mitch" Mitchell,age 84, of Nashville, MI passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Mitch was born in Bellevue, on March 21, 1932, the son of the late Vincent and Dorothy (Hooper) Mitchell. He was raised in the Bellevue area attended local schools graduating from Bellevue High School in 1951. He was the widower of Gladys (Jarrard) Mitchell. Gladys & Mitch met after her brothers wedding, where Mitch and some of his friends showed up at the house for an old fashion "Belling". Gladys & Mitch where married on August 21, 1954. The couple began their lives together on Glady's family farm, after a brief time living in town. They eventually moved to their home on Lawrenece road where they raised their family together. Mitch & Gladys had been married over 60 years when she passed away in 2015. At the height of racing legend Sammy Session's career Mitch was an intrigual part of his pit crew; accompanying the race team while they competed in the Indianapolis 500. Mitch began his working career driving truck, then in 1954 began working at Nashville Sand & Gravel, where eventually he was promoted to Plant Supervisor. He retired after 36 years of service at the age of 58. When the family was young they enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Fife Lake in Northern Michigan where they would hunt for mushrooms in the spring. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and mushrooming. He spent the past two weeks at deer camp as recently as this season. LaMoin is survived by a daughter, Lori (Tom) Lyons, two sons Steven (Patricia) Mitchell, Brian (Tammy) Mitchell, his sister, Mona Stanley, Grandchildren Kenny (Tina ) Mitchell, Matt (Stepanie) Mitchell, Ryan (Lacey) Stamm, KC Lyons, Kevin (Stephanie) Robinson, Cory (Melinda) Robinson, 10 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gladys, sister Beverly Mitchell, grandson Garrett Mitchell, brothers in-law Jack Stanley, and Jim & Joe Jarrard Funeral Services will held Grace Community Church, Nashville, MI, at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 5, with Jeff Burpee officiating. The family will receive visitors on Sunday December 4, 2016 from 3-5 PM and again Monday 1 hour prior to service beginning at 10:00 AM at Grace Community Church in Nashville. There will be a luncheon and time of fellowship immediately following the funeral service at Grace Community Church. Interment will take place at Wilcox Cemetery Nashville, MI. following the luncheon. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Maple Valley Youth Athletics to support the football, basketball and baseball programs.
