Kathleen Barker

Kathleen M. Barker Pewamo Age 88, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017. She was born October 10, 1928 in Westphalia the daughter of Joseph and Laurina (Wirth) Hanses. Mrs. Barker was a member of St. Joseph Alter Society and Catholic Order of Foresters. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting casinos. She was a homemaker, who loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always making sure they were taken care of and well fed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Barker in 2009; son, Allan Barker of Edmore, in 2017; son-in-law, Jim Hengesbach in 2008; two brothers, David Hanses and Reynold Hanses; brothers-in-law, Simon Smith and Reece Hattis. Surviving are her three daughters, Shirley Linn of Grand Ledge, Patti Hengesbach of Westphalia, Lori (Mike) Wieber of Portland; 10 grandchildren, Rob (Kari), Tara (Jarrod), Cole, Haley (Brad), Hanna (Grant), Scott (Katie), Heather (Dennis), Holly, Amber, and Amy; great grandchildren, Jude, Lena, Micah, and Oliver; sisters, Revella Smith, Dorothy Hattis, Liz (Bob) Spitzley; brothers and sisters-in law, Kate Hanses and Marvin (Sandy) Barker; and several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, with Rev. Charlon Mason and Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 6-8 pm., Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday. Rosaries will be prayed 5:30 p.m., Sunday and 1:30 and 5:30 p.m., Monday.
