Anna Verly Marshall, Minnesota Obituary

Anna Verly

Anna was born on October 2, 1919, in Marshall, to Hector and Ida Louwagie. She was united in marriage on November 15, 1944 to Gerard Verly in Green Valley. Together for 51 years, they loved and nurtured 10 children and welcomed many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1989 they moved to town after 45 years of farming south of Marshall, where they fed Black Angus, milked cows and gathered eggs. Anna loved the outdoor chores; maybe more than household tasks. Yearly she took at least one combine ride until the age of 96. Anna was a woman deeply devoted to her faith, family, friends and fun. She loved people and always saw the best in them. She loved on them with amazing kindness, wit and wisdom. Anna and Gerry loved to travel, dance and play cards with family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress, bread baker and gardener. She is “almost” world renowned for her tomato soup and applesauce. Belgium cookie making was a yearly tradition. Anna was active in CCW, Religious Education, communion to the homebound and the funeral committee. Our Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma will be deeply missed by her children; Melvin Verly (Amy) of Henderson, NV, Grace Erickson of Brooklyn Park, Joyce Merry (Andy) of Dellwood, Ed Verly (Rita) of Marshall, RaTerra RaShana of Marshall, Pat Verly (Barb) of Marshall, Paul Verly (Becky) of Longmont, Co, Mary Holdahl (Layne) of Eden Prairie and Ida Miller (Craig) of Maple Plain. Her 29 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren loved her deeply and will dearly miss her welcoming smile, generous compliments, witty humor and candy jar but most of all her genuine love and acceptance. Preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Hector Louwagie, husband Gerard, son Donald, son-in-law Ken Erickson, 3 grandchildren; Lisa, Jill and Anna and one great grandchild, Lincoln, sisters Marie Coudron and Bertha Van Uden, brothers: Marcel, Oscar, Rene, Emil, Maurice, Charlie and Leo Louwagie. Memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice or Holy Redeemer Catholic School With the Lord Jesus forever
