Mrs. Nora Faye Severns, 70, of D'Iberville, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Nora was born on August 22, 1946 in Iuka, Mississippi to the late Robert and Dimple Hill. She earned her Associate's Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and was a registered Emergency Medical Technician. She worked for Ferson Optics in Ocean Springs and was the head EMT at Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi. She earned the employee of the year award at the Isle of Capri in 1998 and Special Friends Award by the Special Olympics in 2004. She was a member of Fayard Chapel in Latimer. She loved her church family dearly for seventeen years. She enjoyed reading, fishing, and playing video poker on her kindle. She will be best remembered as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was a dedicated military spouse and for aiding her husband for many years to feed the needy of the coast. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, David Severns of 48 years; parents, Robert and Dimple Hill, and siblings, James Hill, Peggy White, Johnnie Oaks, and Willa Peterson. Survivors include her children, Jewel (Brian) Hurst of D'Iberville, Mississippi and David Severns and Tina Friday of Carmel, Indiana; sister, Jesse (Pat) Daugherity; grandchildren, Janelle (Steven) Navarro of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Brenda (Cody) Hart of Tacoma, Washington, Rachel Severns of Mobile, Alabama, and Richard Severns of Weldon, Iowa; great grandchildren, Stephanie and Emaleigh Navarro of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; sister in law, Ruby (Richard Howard) of Texas; special and best friend for over fifty years, Faye Franklin of Kentucky, and a host of nieces and nephews all over the country. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, March 30,2017 at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
