David Charles Gauger of Yuma, Arizona formerly of Cuba, Missouri passed away from the loving arms of his family to the arms of our Heavenly Father on July 25, 2008 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born April 22, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Elmer and Florence Gauger.
David was preceded in death by Karleen his loving wife of 40 years, son Robert, parents Elmer and Florence; sister Alice; four brothers-in-laws; his mother and father-in-law.
Survivors include his brother Elmer Gauger of Yuma, Arizona; sisters Viola Stevens of Beecher, Illinois, Jacqueline McDonald of Midlothian, Illinois, Marion Bak of Portland, Oregon, Kathleen (Rick) Davisson of Combined Locks, Wisconsin; brother-in-law Larry (Donna) Weber of Cuba, Missouri; many neices and nephews.
David was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps for six and one half years. "Semper Fi". David served two tours in Okinawa and also Korea. He was selected to become a diplomatic courier but was relieved of his assignment due to a heart murmur.
After his Honorable Discharge from the Marines, he married the love of his life Karleen Weber in October 1962. He then worked in an oxygen generating plant, auto mechanical field, selling tools, and driving a delivery truck until his heart attack. His vision then would not allow him to drive again forcing him into early retirement. David and Karleen the moved to Cuba, Missouri where they quickly made more friends.
After the death of his wife, David moved to Arizona where he resided with his brother during the winter. He learned to love the desert and the heat. It never seemed to be too hot for him. Summers were spent with his sister Viola in Illinois and Kathy in Wisconsin where he loved their Northwoods cottage on the lake.
David was a devoted fan of the Cubs and Bears, but did root for the Packers when they would play each other. He also loved to argue and tease his friends in Cuba about the Rams and Cardinals.
David left loads of cherished family and many, many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him as much as he loved them.
