Erma "Lois" Hill Obituary

Erma "Lois" Hill went to be with her lord and savior on January 7, 2017 at age 93. She was born June 29, 1923 in rural Republic County, Kansas, to Orval and Charlotte Barleen. Lois graduated high school in Concordia, Kansas in 1941. Her first job was with the Agricultural Adjustment Agency in Concordia where she worked 4 years. She decided to move to Kansas City, Missouri with three friends in April of 1945. There she found work at Standard Milling Company in the Board of Trade Building and worked there 4 years. She met and married Richard V. Hill on November 8, 1947. They were blessed with three children, Richard, Sandra, and Roger. After being home with her children for 18 years, she went to work at Dolgin's in North Kansas City and worked there 10 years. She then went to work at the Truman Library in Independence and retired from there after 7 years. Lois is a member of Pleasant Grove Bible Church. For many years, she was on the board of the Independence Christian Women's Club. She loved studying the bible and helped in coordinating bible studies through Stonecroft Ministries of Kansas City. Her husband passed away in 1973 and their son, Richard David, passed away in 1995. She is survived by their children Sandra Hanna and husband, Daniel, of Buckner, Missouri, Roger Hill of Independence, Missouri and daughter-in-law, Paula Hill of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren. Abbe, Ryan, Paige, Scott, Marc, Nathan, Anna, Chris, Tim and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Wilma Mikesell of Courtland, Kansas. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. 64052. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. with the service immediately following at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Horton Cemetery in Horton, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Bible Church, 4916 Lee's Summit Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64136-1125.
