Lula M. Hopper, 93, passed away Saturday November 12, 2016. Lula was born May 28, 1923 in Garden Plain, Kansas to Walter and Sadie Self. Lula and her family moved to Kansas City, Missouri when she was 8 years old. Lula lived in Sugar Creek, Missouri from 1933-1951. Then she married Edwin S. Hopper. Edwin and Lula were married August 4, 1951. They purchased a new house in Independence, Missouri, and began their family. Lula worked for Sears Roebuck & Co, for 8 ½ years. Staying home to be a homemaker after their second child was born. Lula is proceeded in death by her husband of 60 years Edwin S. Hopper, Sr., sisters Pauline Self and Juanita Cary, brothers Charles (Mike) Self and Wesley Self. Lula is survived by her son Edwin S. Hopper, Jr., daughters Deanna and Tammy Hopper, grandson Edwin J. Hopper and wife Courtney, great grandson Jase Edwin Hopper, great granddaughter Kendall Nickole Hopper, all of Independence, Missouri, sisters Helen Shearer, Laurie, MO, and Betty Jackson, Lenexa, KS. Many Nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lula was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved spending time with her family. Lula helped raise so many wonderful children, she took care of them like family. Lula was a Baptist. She will be missed dearly by all who loved her. Family request contributions to Crossroad Hospice.
