Maria Ryburn

Maria Ryburn, 85, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday, November 28, 2016 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Maria was born on November 10, 1931 in Austria. She became a long-time resident of Independence after her marriage to Bill, an Army officer stationed in Austria. Maria became a US citizen in 1959, raised 2 daughters and worked as a seamstress until her retirement. In her later years, they enjoyed traveling and keeping up their home. Her loving and determined spirit will be greatly missed by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister. Her survivors include; her husband Bill Ryburn; daughters Helga and husband James and Anita and her husband Richard; grandchildren Catherine and John with his wife Amy; 2 great granddaughters Willa and Ellie; 2 nephews and 2 nieces. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House.
