Velma K. Maxwell, 94, of Independence, MO passed away December 7, 2016. A visitation will be held Monday, December 12th from 10-11am followed by a service at 11am, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Velma was born, September 10, 1922 in Higbee, MO to Thaddeus and Marilyn Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Maxwell; four brothers; one sister; and son-in-law, James Minor. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Minor of Independence, and Kathy Ripps and her husband, Ron of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Ronnie, Franklin and Paul Dean, all of Moberly, MO; grandchildren, Audrey, Natalie, and Amber; great-grandchildren, Anna, Anthony, Sadie and Savannah; and great-great granddaughter, Carley.
