Linda McDermott

Linda Louise McDermott, 80 of Independence, MO passed away, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. Luke’s Plaza Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 611 N. Liberty St, Independence, MO 64050. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to the Patrick McDermott Memorial Scholarship Fund at Bishop Miege High School. Linda was born February 6, 1936 in Perryville, MO to Gilbert A. and Gladys (Moore) Ernst. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed traveling and needlepoint. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Young Matrons. She is survived by: her loving husband of 60 years, Robert McDermott of the home; a son, Thomas McDermott and wife Kellie; a daughter, Maureen Lathrom and husband Joe; a sister, Sandy Schetter and husband Elmer; 6 grandchildren, Erin Gregory (Philip), Kelli Gervy (Jeremy), Jared Lathrom, Kirstie McDermott, Tanner McDermott and Blake McDermott and 6 great grandchildren.
