THADDEUS “TED” PODGORNY Thaddeus “Ted” Podgorny, 70, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at the Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63129. Ted was born December 3, 1946, in St. Louis, MO to Thaddeus and Mildred (Krall) Podgorny and has lived in the Kansas City area since 1978. He grew up in St. Louis where he graduated from Jennings High School in 1965 and later from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1970 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating college, Ted proudly served his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He enjoyed running, biking, snow skiing, water skiing, pickle-ball, racquetball and most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren. Ted was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Independence, MO. He leaves to cherish his memory: a daughter Christine Butcher and husband Robert of Fredericksburg, VA; two sons Todd Podgorny of Blue Springs, MO and Brian Podgorny of Raytown, MO; former wife, Barb Podgorny of Lee’s Summit, MO; long-time partner Loma Sunterra of Overland Park, KS and 6 grandchildren, Bobby, Gabriel, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Sebastian and Addison.
