Velda Armstrong

Joyce Armstrong, 84, of Raytown, MO passed away January 27, 2017. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Monday, January 30, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Floral Hills Cemetery. Joyce was born on October 21, 1932 near Everton in Dade County MO to Bland Otto and Florence Josephine (Terrell) Burton. Joyce moved to the Kansas City area in 1950. She went to work for Penn Mutual Insurance where she remained until 1979. It was in 1979 that she went to work for Aetna until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church. She was a volunteered for Shepherd Center Meals On Wheels until 2005. Joyce loved to go to Las Vegas, so much so that all of her grandchildren were given a trip on their 21st birthday. She also enjoyed her hometown teams, Chiefs and Royals. Survivors include; son Michael Armstrong; daughter Kay Copeland and her husband Terry; daughter Connie Kingsley and her husband Raymond; grandchildren Connie Kemery, Cathie Swiss, Clint Copeland, Kevin Penny, and Brian Penny; 7 great grandchildren; brothers Marvin Burton and Carl Burton; sister Fannie Dorman; a large extended family; and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Eileen Johnson, brothers Ernest Burton and Larry Burton, dear friend Walter Ferguson, and her special 4 legged friend Toby.
