Bettie Loise Abernathy of Potosi, Missouri was born on November 2, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. A daughter of the late, Maurice Lenox and Lucy (Jackson) Lenox. Bettie departed this life on January 17, 2017 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home in Potosi, Missouri. Bettie is survived by her two daughters, Krista Hicks and her husband, Steven of Potosi, Missouri; Cynthia Storll of Potosi, Missouri; three sisters, Shirley Batterson and her husband, Howard of Rock Island, Illinois; Joann Barr and her husband, Chuck of Wellington, Utah; Regina Barnes and her husband, Wayne of Kentucky; one brother, Bill Lenox and his wife, Roxie of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Tom Elkin; sister-in-law, Gloria Lenox; dear and special friends, Rita Politte of Old Mines, Missouri; Diane Politte of Old Mines, Missouri; Cat Dickey of Potosi, Missouri; also surviving are other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents Bettie was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Castiglia, Karen Elkin, two brothers, Bobby Lenox, David Lenox and sister-in-law, Betty Lenox. Bettie enjoyed to read, do crafts and watch wrestling on television. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors admiring the many gifts of Mother Nature. Most of all Bettie loved her dogs and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a kind, loving woman who will be greatly missed. Bettie’s family would like to thank the staff of the Potosi Manor and of Preferred Hospice for taking such wonderful care of their mother. Visitation was held Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. A Funeral Service was held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Brother Jeff Richards officiating. Final Prayers and Burial were in the Adams Cemetery in St. James, Missouri. Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
