Neal McDonald of Caledonia, Missouri was born on Thursday, September 15, 1932 in Hamilton, Alabama. A son of the late, Amos McDonald and the late, Beatrice (Aberecrombie) McDonald. Neal departed this life on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:46 PM at the Mercy Jefferson in Festus, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-four years and three months. Neal was united in marriage to Velma Niswonger on February 14, 2006 in St. Charles, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Velma McDonald of Caledonia, Missouri; two daughters, Teresa Naes of Winfield, Missouri; Gretta Bast and husband, Shawn of Marisa, Illinois; two sons, Kevin O’Neal-McDonald and wife, Cynthia of Caledonia, Missouri; Gregory L. McDonald and wife, Lori of St. Louis, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Debbie Schneider and husband, Ron of Warrenton, Missouri; two stepsons, Michael Blankenship and wife, Sandy of Farmington, Missouri; Charles Blankenship and wife, Jodi of Bismarck, Missouri; one brother, Bill McDonald and wife, Ann of The Villages, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; also surviving are other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Neal was preceded in death by three sisters, Nail, Donnie, Louise and one brother, Kenneth McDonald. Neal was the owner and operator of his own over the road trucking company. He enjoyed spending time fishing and watching older television shows especially, Gunsmoke. Neal loved music and playing the guitar and organ. He will be very deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation was held Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Smyrna Cemetery in Hamilton, Alabama. Honoring the memory of Neal and serving as Pallbearers were Greg McDonald, Daniel Naes, Tim McDonald, Robbie Yontz, Charlie Blankenship, Gretta Bast, Teresa Naes, Lori McConald and Rebecca Yontz. Moore Funeral Homes was honored to have been selected to serve Neal, his family and friends.
