Ettamae Campbell of Springfield, passed away Thursday March 9, 2017 at her son’s home in Battlefield at the age of 89. Ettamae Harriet was born November 24, 1927 in Greene County, daughter of the late Herbert C. and Lenora (McCain) Bridges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: a brother, Herbert C. Bridges, Jr. and two sisters, Eleanor Bridges Beck and Mildred Louise Bridges Anderson. Ettamae graduated from Springfield High School (presently Central) in 1945 after attending McGregor and Boyd Elementary and Pipkin Junior High Schools. Baptized at Central Christian Church at age 12, she was a currently a member of First Christian Church, Springfield, Missouri. Three children were born into the October 1946 union of Ettamae and the late Glenn McMillian—a career military veteran. Primarily a mother and homemaker, she held several Civil Service positions at various military bases across the nation. Upon her return to Springfield, she was an Avon representative for 15 years and worked 8 years as a Breakfast Hostess at the Hampton Inn. In 1981, she was united in marriage to the late (1987) Homer Waterman. She would often say that God blessed her one more time when she experienced love late in life marrying Knial Ray Campbell January 11, 2015. She developed a number of lifelong friendships with employees of the Hampton Inn, fellow members of Al-Anon, and Camp Bluebird. She looked forward to lunch reunions with classmates from the SHS Class of ’45, making memories at South Side Senior Center, and dancing at various Southwest MO Senior Centers. She is survived by her loving husband of two years, Knial Ray Campbell of the home; daughter Deborah Sue (husband Richard) Ragain of Gravois Mills; two sons, Sean and Patrick (wife Stephanie) McMillian of Battlefield; three granddaughters, Leslie (husband Don) Ross, Kelley and Madalyn McMillian; and three great grandsons, Gavin Summers, Grayson and Justin Ross, three step-children Maryanne (husband William) Barton of Nixa, Mark (wife Brenda) Campbell of Nixa and James (wife Diane) Campbell of Dyersburg, TN, eleven step-grandchildren, fourteen step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Friends may join family for a time of remembrance Monday March 13, 2017 at Greenlawn South from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorials, if desired, may be made Camp Bluebird Missouri.
