Funeral services for Shirley Schrad age 66 of Wisner, NE will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Shirley passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender, NE. Shirley Elaine Schrad was born on December 30, 1949 at Norfolk, NE to Aubrey and Irene (Fickler) Dohren. She attended Pilger Elementary and graduated from Wisner High School in 1968. After graduation she moved to Lincoln and attended beauty school. Shirley married Monty Spellman and he later passed away. She returned to Wisner and began working at Walmart in Norfolk, NE. On November 14, 1987, she was united in marriage to Mike Schrad in Yankton, SD. Shirley later worked at Wisner West, Mike’s Foodtown, Arvid’s Foodtown, the Wisner Senior Center and Dollar General. Shirley was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards, and playing Kismet with her sister. She loved spending time with family, especially her children and grandchildren, and always had time to help with their 4-H projects. Survivors include- Husband-Mike Schrad of Wisner Daughter- Jennifer Huntley and Dwayne Nielsen of Grand Island, NE and daughter-Aubrey and son Chance on the way. Son- Dustin and Katie Schrad of West Point, NE and daughter-Kinsley Step-children- Nick and Alexis Schrad of Wisner, NE and family Ben and Tina Schrad and family Brothers- Harry and Leona Dohren of Wisner, NE Daryl and Marilyn Dohren of Gooding, ID Kenny and Donna Dohren of Wisner, NE Sisters- Linda Meyers of Wisner, NE Sandra and Gene Miller of Stanton, NE Shirley was preceded in death by her parents-Aubrey and Irene Dohren.
