Patricia Moriarty Meredith, New Hampshire Obituary

Patricia Moriarty

Patricia B. Moriarty, 72, of Meredith, loving wife of Craig Moriarty, passed away on December 10, 2016 after a brief struggle from a catastrophic brain aneurysm. Pat was born in Laconia, NH on April 7, 1944 and attended local schools graduating Valedictorian from Laconia-Gilford High School class of 1962. She attended the University of Connecticut as a student majoring in Pharmacy, however mathematics caught her interest. Pat married in her junior year of college and settled in southern Connecticut. After two years, she moved to Meredith, NH in 1966 to start and raise her family. She became a mother to three lovely children while being self-employed in the coin laundry and commercial real estate business with her husband recently retiring after 48 years. Pat returned, 25 years later, to school attending Plymouth State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and math education graduating Summa Cum Laude. Pat was a charter member of the Altrusa International of Meredith, an active club that awards scholarships and support to the surrounding Lakes Region towns. Pat was especially passionate about a scholarship that is awarded to the non-traditional student supporting older students who return to school. She was adored by her children and grandchildren, and she adored them. It was common to see Pat in the lake from May through October, especially with her grandchildren. Swimming or just wading was a favorite pastime, but almost any out-doors activity helped fulfill her enthusiasm for the natural sciences. Pat was an ardent animal lover, and whenever she went out, she was typically accompanied by her dog. Pat’s most gracious character trait was her unending and unconditional love for all those she cherished. Patricia was pre-deceased by her brother, Lawrence Baldi lll, and her parents, Lawrence and Charlotte Baldi II. Pat is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Craig, son, John and wife Mary of the Lakes Region, daughters, Leigh and husband Andrew Huml of Boston, MA, and Carol and husband Daniel Federico of the Seacoast NH region. She leaves six grandchildren to whom she was devoted: Peter, Willem, and John Federico and Riley, Gannon, and Taylor Huml, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes #3 and #104, Meredith, on Thursday, Dec. 15th, from 6pm to 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the First Congregational Church of Meredith, on Highland St., on Friday, Dec. 16th, at 11am. The Rev. Russell Rowland, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH. Memorial Donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the Altrusa International Club of Meredith, ATTN: Scholarship Fund, PO Box 760. Meredith, NH. 03253.
