Gene Dow Obituary

Gene Dow, 64, a life-long resident of Hamilton, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, with his beloved family at his side after a courageous five month battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Known to his youngest niece and nephew as the puppet master, and to his precious grand-daugher as Bop Bop, he was famous for his outrageous way with a story, of which there were many. He was employed as a supervisor with the State of New Jersey Department of OTIS where he was employed for 40 years before retiring in 2010. Gene was also a soccer and lacrosse referee for several years. Gene is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Ann (Angioletti) Dow; he is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Karen (Domanski) Dow; his son Ryan and daughter-in-law Dahiana, and their 2 year old daughter, Anabel, the apple of Gene’s eye. Gene is also survived by his sister Barbara (Mark) Roberts and their son Michael of Hamilton, his natural aunt, Rosemary Procaccino and her children, Patti (Tom) Beers, Sandi (Michael) Dill and Anthony (Ellyn) Procaccino; cousins, Richard (Donna) Angioletti, and Barbara Rose Bailey. He is also survived by sister-in-law Sheri Baird, of Raleigh, NC, her son Mark (Anne) Baird of France, and children Sarah and Sean. Sheri’s daughter Special Olympics swimmer Tracy was long championed and loved by Gene. He is survived by another sister-in-law, Jeanne Hogan of Pennington, her daughter Lindsey of Brooklyn, NY, and son Tom Hogan of Lambertville, NJ, and his mother-in-law, Rena Domanski of Hamilton. Christian memorial services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at noon at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 am to noon. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Wake County, 2401 Wade Ave., Raleigh, NC 27607 or to an animal shelter of your choice.
