Thomas B. Mills, age 92, of West Long Branch, died peacefully on December 22, 2016 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. Born in New York City, he had lived in Long Branch before moving to West Long Branch 60 years ago. Tom attended Monmouth College and retired from Ft. Monmouth after 32 years as a wood craftsman. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II in Europe, Africa and England; he was a member of the American Legion Post 54 in Freehold; the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the Boy Scouts of America. Tom was an avid fisherman and enjoyed studying American Civil War and building and shooting black powder guns. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Mary Kane Mills; his 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Raymond Mills and John and Anna Mae Applegate Mills and his sister and brother-in-law, Bernadette and Frank Rubino. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas S. and Barbara Mills of Brick; 2 daughters, Maryann Mills of Howell and Angela Mills of Toms River; 5 grandchildren;4 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Delores Mills and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. Funeral Wednesday, 9 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass at Star of the Sea Church in Long Branch. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in West Long Branch.
