Joseph F. Cataldo, Sr., of Marlton, NJ, passed away on January 3, 2017, at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Marie (nee Orlando) for 54 years. Loving father of Vincent (Chase) and Joseph, Jr. (Lisa). Caring grandpop of Nicholas, Natalie, Trey, and Taylor. Dear brother of Jenny Lee DiBona. Joseph is also survived by his nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. Joseph was a professional trumpeter, composer, and clinician. He performed with Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Hope, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Johnny Mathis, Nancy Wilson, Johnny Carson, Don Rickels, Bob Newhart, Michel Legrand, Frankie Valli, Aretha Franklin, Regis Philbin, The Rat Pack, John Faddis, Bobby Shew, Burt Bacharach, Anthony Newley, Gladys Knight, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and many many others. A member of ASCAP, voting member of The Grammy Association, and co-founder of the Royal Fungi Hunters Club. He had a great passion for Jazz education. Taught for 39 years and truly cared for his students. He loved his kids and they loved him. He was a guest conductor for the New Jersey Jazz Educators Association while also being recognized by the City of Philadelphia, receiving the Music Ambassador Award for work on "The Sound of Philadelphia” and performances with the groups MFSB, The Salsoul Orchestra, Philadelphia International and Sigma Sound Studios. He was added to The Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame on the Avenue of The Arts in Philadelphia. An advocate for live music. His staple slogan... "Keep It Live!"
