Robert John Hart Jr., age 68 of Milton, DE, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at home. He was born on November 28, 1948 in East Orange, NJ, son of the late Robert John, Sr. and Helen (Curtis) Hart. Mr. Hart proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. Following his military service, he attended Erie Community College for Opthamalic Dispensing, graduating in 1971. Mr. Hart then began a lifelong career as an Optician in Monmouth County, NJ, during which, he was a President of the NJ Optician Association. He retired after 45 dedicated years. Mr. Hart was a member of the Military Order of Devil Dogs, the American Legion, and was a prior Commandant of the Marine Corps League. He was very active in the Ocean Township Little League as a coach and umpire; as well as a longtime member of the Long Branch Ice Boat & Yacht Club. Mr. Hart truly enjoyed fishing anytime he got the chance. He was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Mr. Hart is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Adeline (Kicinski) Hart; his son, Christopher Hart and his wife Jennylyn of Fayetteville, GA; his daughter, Allison Hart and her fiancé, Russel Raykin of Brooklyn, NY; his brother, Curtis Hart of Matawan, NJ; his sister, Cathleen Lovuola of Allenwood, NJ; his granddaughter, Rachel Hart of Fayetteville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake at 9:00am on Friday, with burial to follow at the NJ Veterans Cemetery, Wrighstown.
