Anthony Albert Fabozzi, 89, of Union Street, Broadalbin, NY; passed away Wednesday afternoon February 8, 2017 at home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 14, 1927, He was the son of the late Albert and Helen Kenna Fabozzi. Tony graduated from Siena College, receiving his B.A. in 1950 and his M.S. in 1960, majoring in Sociology and History. He also studied at SUNY Plattsburgh, Ithaca College and Adelphi University. Tony was employed by Montgomery County Department of Social Services from 1950 to 1951. He went on to become a teacher at Broadalbin Central School where he taught World History, American History, Driver Education and was the Varsity Basketball and Golf Coach from 1956 to 1966. His next endeavor was in the Gloversville School District, where he was a School Social Worker, Attendance Teacher and Varsity Tennis Coach from 1966 to 1985. He also worked part time during summers at Montgomery County Department of Social Services as a caseworker from 1956 to 1966, Montgomery County Big Brothers as Executive Director from 1968 to 1972 and Fulton County Big Brothers as Executive Director from 1974 to 1978. Tony also received several certificates from his teaching years including Social Studies (Grades 7-12), Secondary Principal. School Social Worker, Attendance Teacher and Driver Education Tony was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955. Tony was a member of the Siena College Basketball Hall of Fame, Gloversville Lions Club, American Legion, Fulton County Big Brothers and Sisters, Montgomery County Big Brothers, Advisory Member of Fulton County Department of Social Services, Fulton County Family Counseling Center and the Gloversville Moose Lodge. Tony is survived by his wife, Joanne Crispin Fabozzi at home, one son , James R. Fabozzi (Janice ) of Johnstown, NY, one daughter, Karen Dutcher (Howard) of Caroga Lake, NY; three sisters, Jean Riccio of Pennsylvania, Audrey Russo of Amsterdam, NY and Margaret Mraz (Joseph) of the state of California, three brothers, Richard Fabozzi of West Winfield, NY; Donald Fabozzi of Rochester, NY and John Fabozzi (Ann) of Amsterdam, four grandchildren, Catherine Fabozzi, Nicholas Dutcher (Sarah), Courtney Dutcher and Nathan Dutcher, three great grandchildren, Landon, Piper and Lilia Dutcher. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Tony was also predeceased by a son, Robert A. Fabozzi and a grandson, Brandon Fabozzi. Relatives and friends will be invited to a Memorial Mass, which will be held this spring at a time and date to be announced in a future editition of the Amsterdam Recorder, the Leader Herald and Schenectady Gazette newspapers.
