John A Tesiero

John A. Tesiero, Jr. entered into eternal life on November 11, 2015 at St. Mary’s Healthcare, surrounded by his family.<br><br>Mr. Tesiero was born in Amsterdam, New York on July 2, 1927, the son of John A. Tesiero and Elizabeth Marcella Crouse Tesiero.<br><br>John was a 1945 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch School in Amsterdam, New York. He went to summer school to graduate early and to enlist in the Army at the age of 17. He served with the Occupation Forces in Belgium and Germany. Upon returning from the European Theatre, he and his friends, Ray Francisco and Dick Furman founded Cranesville Block Company in 1947. The company has grown to be one of the largest producers of ready mix concrete in New York State.<br><br> On September 9, 1950, he married Elizabeth Ann Nellis. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.<br><br>Mr. Tesiero was very philanthropic, donating anonymously and generously too many worthy causes. Loving his home town of Amsterdam, he worked endlessly to support the City of Amsterdam and his community. He was involved with numerous civic, professional and political organizations.<br><br>Mr Tesiero was a communicant and trustee of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.<br><br> A business man in every sense of the word, he most enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, vacationing in Palm Beach and summer activities in Saratoga.<br><br> In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by his four children, Beth Gaines (Lee) of Baltimore, Maryland, Carol Whelly (Bill), John Tesiero III (Gloria), of Amsterdam, NY and Joseph Tesiero (Liz) of Broadalbin, NY., twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several cousins.<br><br>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Monday at 11:00 a.m.<br><br>Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.<br><br>Calling hours are Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.<br><br> In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in John’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Institute Tesiero Scholarship Fund, 10 Kopernik Blvd., Amsterdam, NY 12010.<br>
