Maria E. Mazzone, 90, of Brooklyn NY passed away with her family by her side on January 21, 2017 at her Brooklyn home. Maria was born in Brooklyn September 13th, 1926 to Joseph and Maria Rose Montemurro. She attended Erasmus and Clara Barton High School. She married Joseph Mazzone and raised 8 children. Maria was a dedicated homemaker and worked as the Gal Friday of the family business. She also found the time to become active at St. Catharine of Alexandria Parish. Maria was a member of the Rosary Alter Society, a school aid, secretary at the Rectory, and facilitator at Bingo for many years. She also was a member of the St. Catharine bowling league for 43 years. Maria’s life was shared with her family, her neighbors, her families friends, and of course the many wonderful women she bowled with. She had a love of music in all its genres that spanned from the 1930’s to the present. Many Broadway Plays found her in attendance with family and friends. Her unique sense of humor caught many people off guard and showcased her clever and funny way of viewing the world. She always reminded us to be in awe of the pleasures brought about by God’s gift of nature and the wonders of life. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph and her son John. She is survived by her Brother Frank Montemurro, her children: Pauline Jonas, Vincent and Karen Mazzone, Joseph and Patti Mazzone, Diane and Tony Gullo, Thomas Mazzone, Patricia Mazzone and Rosemarie Mazzone.
