Caesar Anthony Bernacchi
November 15, 1935 - February 21, 2015
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York by parents George and Belisa Bernacchi and survived by his wife, Frances Bernacchi, children; George Bernacchi and wife Julie and their children Christina Dolye, Danielle Taylor, and Jessica Bernacchi; daughter, Lisa Hickey and her husband Thomas with their children Steven and Michael; and second daughter, Maria Forino and husband Michael and their children, Nicholas and Sophia.
Caesar always had an easy smile for anyone who met him. After graduating Fordham University in 1959 with a degree in History, he worked as a teacher, guidance counselor, and Dean for 27 years at Macon Junior High School in Bedford Styvesant, Brooklyn. During this time he also took ownership of Manny's bar, 60th street and 16th Ave., Brooklyn which he owned for 5 years with his wife. Close to his retirement from teaching, he and his wife purchased Joe Majors Restaurant on 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Here, he and his wife enjoyed their life working tirelessly but happily growing their business for 20 years. Always the master of the ledger sheet, Caesar finally retired from his business and gave his time to community service volunteering his time at his grandchildren's local public elementary school and his mothers nursing home.
Caesar will alway be that imposing figure behind the bar ready with that easy smile and a "what'll it be?", greeting. His family, long-time friends and former employees will miss him dearly.
