GLENS FALLS Retired Chief Ronald P. Cote, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Born October 1, 1937 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Reginald and Irene (Baldwin) Cote. Ron graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1956 and then attended Schenectady County Community College. On January 28, 1961, Ron married Frances Savin at St. Peter’s Church in Saratoga Springs, NY. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before joining the Glens Falls Fire Department on April 1, 1962. He served for 46 years including as Fire Chief from 1993-2007. Ron was a member of the Elks B.P.O.E Glens Falls Lodge #81 for many years, as well as the Knights of Columbus and the Kiwanis Club. Ron enjoyed golf, hiking and camping in the Adirondacks with his sons, brother, and his two dogs, Abby and Molly. He also loved to hunt and fish. Ron was known for his baking and cooking skills and he often prepared meals for the fireman. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother Robert Cote, and his nephew Jeffrey Cote. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Frances J. Cote, his sons; Christopher Cote and his wife Cheri, Scott Cote and his wife Tara, and Stephen Cote and his wife Karen, his grandchildren; Michael Cote and his wife Jenna, Morgan Hill and her husband Ryan, Alyssa Cote, Kyle Cote, Conor Cote and his wife Rachael, Kyle Cote, and Mia Cote, great-grandchildren; Christian Cote and Elliot Hill, brothers; Richard Cote and his wife Sharon and Leo Cote and his wife Diana, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call from 4-7pm on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, On the Circle, Hudson Falls, NY 12839. Rite of Committal will take place at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
