Alan Service Obituary

Alan R. Service, 63, died on January 2, 2017 at Westchester Medical Center. Born in Paterson, NJ on October 18, 1953, he was the son of Raymond and Deborah (Foley) Service. Alan was a 1972 graduate of Arlington High School and attended Dutchess Community College. He was employed as an Electrical Mechanical Engineer for the US Mint at West Point until his retirement in September. He had previously worked for IBM. Alan was a parishioner of St. Denis Church. He was a life member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club and enjoyed airplanes. He loved cruising the Hudson in his Carver, cycling the country roads on his Honda and driving his truck to help anyone who needed a helping hand. On July 23, 1983 in Massapequa, Alan married Maureen Moran who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughters, Brianna Leslie and her husband Jared of Tarrytown, and Caitlin Service of Poughquag; his sister, Christine Schildt and her husband Skylar of Marlboro; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
