It is with great sadness that the family of Steve (Subrata) Ray announces his passing, on Saturday, January 7th, 2017, at age 54. He passed away peacefully embraced in love, by his wife Neelanjana, and by loved ones, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. He fought a brave battle against cancer for several years, all the while keeping his zest for life. Steve will be forever and fondly remembered by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Neelanjana, by his parents Dr. Paul (Sukhamay) and Diane (Sudha), by his brother Sumit and sister-in-law Sudeshna, and nieces Roshni, Shikha, and Diya. He will be fondly remembered by close family, brother-in-law Amitabh Mukerji, sister-in-law Meeta Ghoshal, her husband Deb Ghoshal, and nieces and nephews, Sandeep Mukerji, Jaideep Mukerji, Saswati Mukherjee, Sawgota Banerjee, and cousin Bidisha Roy. Steve will be dearly missed by his extended family, and many close friends. Steve worked at IBM and Global Foundries for 30 years, where he was vice president of semiconductor sales, and built strong relations with many coworkers. He was a very active member of the local Indian community, and participated and organized events with enthusiasm. He was a generous benefactor of charitable organizations, and a strong supporter of education for children in developing countries. Steve was passionate about music and travel, a connoisseur of fine foods and the arts, and loved to entertain and spend time with his family and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude for the immense support of friends in his battle, and the compassionate care of the doctors and staff at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. A viewing will be held Friday, January 13th from 4:30-7:00 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A prayer service will be held at the same location on Saturday, January 14th from 9:30-10:30 am, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at the funeral home from 10:30 -12 noon.
