Edwin P. Benton

BENTON, Edwin P. Of Horseheads, went to be with his Lord after a short illness. He passed, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the age of 73. Ed was born March 13, 1943 in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late James and Violet Elwood Benton. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 52 years, Judy Edger Benton; children, Holly (Gary) Hardin, Laura (Matt) Nugent and Edwin (Angela) Benton; grandchildren, Victoria, Alec, Matthew, Elizcia, and River; sister, Kathleen Keister; brothers, William (Linda) Benton and Clair (Kim) Benton; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of caring friends. Ed was a 1962 graduate of Southside, served his country honorably with the US Navy, worked at Thatcher Glass Company as a mold maker, and later retired from Elmira Correctional Facility. The family welcomes relatives and friends at his church, Pine Valley Baptist Church, 4872 Pinecrest Rd., Millport, NY on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 2-4pm. Ed’s Funeral Service will held immediately following at 4pm with Pastor Andrew Gable. He will be laid to rest at the convenience of his family with Military Honors.
