Wyatt Floyd, Sr., 67 years old of Jamaica, New York departed from this life on February 27, 2011 at Long Island Jewish Hospital of New Hyde Park, New York due to an extended illness. Wyatt Floyd, Sr. was born on August 5, 1943 in Sumter, South Carolina to the parents Arthur Floyd, Sr. and Eva Pollard Floyd. He attended Ebenezer High School of Dalzell, South Carolina. Wyatt Floyd, Sr. was a butcher by trade at A. Salmon & Sons where he retired after working numerous years. He also had Floyd’s Van Service where he transported customers to correctional Facilities. He loved carpentry, driving, luxury cars and vans, fishing and gardening. But his favorite hobby was watching old westerns and “Shoot Em Ups”. He resided in Jamaica, Queens for 45 years on Mathias Ave where he had a host of great friends and neighbors. He accepted the invitation for Jesus Christ to come into his life. He was baptized in the summer of 2009 at Greater Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church of Sumter, South Carolina. He is survived by two brothers and four sisters, Arthur Floyd, Jr. (Georgia Mae), Marie Dennis, Josephine Sanders (Marion) all of Sumter, South Carolina, Eva M. Bonaparte (Jesse), Milton Floyd (Ethel) of Harlem, New York and Alene Taylor of Sumter, South Carolina. Wyatt Floyd, Sr. was predeceased by spouse, Queen V. Floyd and to that union there are five surviving children, Wyatt Floyd, Jr. (Marie) of Jamaica, New York, Sharon Wright (Henry) of Rosedale, New York, Greta Floyd, Pamela Brown of St Albans, New York, Tresa Floyd of Buckeye, Arizona, adopted son Colvin Reese of Jamaica, New York, eldest child Deborah Floyd-Dent of Detroit, Michigan, youngest child Andre Smalls of Bronx, New York, thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a host of cousins, friends, neighbors and a good friend Shirley Small. He will truly be missed.
