MASSENA - Mrs. Edna L. Pidgeon, 84, of 2 Lincoln Drive, died early Monday (July 7, 2008) morning at the Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since August 3, 2006.
She was born November 2, 1923 in Lancaster, Ontario, the daughter of John and Theresa LaFave DeRouchie. She attended St. Joseph's School in Lancaster. She married Donald J. Pidgeon on July 28, 1945 at St. Joseph's Church in Lancaster. He predeceased her on March 9, 2007.
She was a homemaker. She also sold Avon for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of TOPS Chapter #493, Massena. She enjoyed flowers, making cakes, going to craft shows and spending time with her great grandson.
She is survived by 4 children and their spouses, Roy and Martha Pidgeon, Milton, Vermont; Dale Scott, Massena; Carol and Gilbert Mere, Massena; Gail and Glenn Welch, Florida; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandson; her sister, Barbara Dufresne, Cornwall, Ontario; her brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Katherine DeRouchie, Cornwall, Ontario; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Ben, Howard, Lloyd, Bobby, and Maurice DeRouchie; and 2 sisters, Shirley MacDonald and Ruth Fox.
Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Massena Center Cemetery.
