ROBERT J. “Boston” ROTHWELL

MASSENA- Robert J. “Boston” Rothwell, unexpectedly passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at his home.

Robert was born June 27, 1936 in Boston, MA, son of the late Robert and Eleanor Molberg Rothwell. He graduated from Melrose High School. He married Carol Ann Blair, a marriage that ended in divorce. He later married Brenda Fisher which ended in divorce.

Boston came to the area for the St Lawrence Seaway project, working in Massena, then Niagara Falls. He returned to Massena and worked at Reynolds Metals for 34 years as a foreman. He was a member of the NRA, and a former member of the Massena Rod and Gun Club. He also was a strong supporter of St. Jude’s Research Hospital. He loved fishing and hunting, was an avid sport shooter, and he also collected knives. He loved living in Massena and the people here.

Robert is survived by his sons, Richard “Rick” Rothwell of New Haven, CT; and Ronald “Ron” Rothwell of Canton, OH; a step-son, Mark Fisher of Colton, Mark’s wife Shelby, and their 3 children; four sisters, Louise Shea, Barbara Bell, Eleanor Shea-Delaney, and Marianne Shea; and two brothers, William Rothwell and Lawrence Shea; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his mother Eleanor, Boston was predeceased by one sister, Claire Weeks.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home Wednesday 6-8 PM, where a funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM with Rev. John Downs officiating.
