Quentin Blewett

Quentin Hafford Blewett passed away on October 29, 2016. He was born to the late Marguerite and Attorney Quentin Blewett, Sr. on April 11, 1927, in Galena, IL. Mr. Blewett received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Chicago and a Master of Music Degree in Musical Composition from Manhattan School of Music, NYC. He was a composer of note, having been cited in “Who’s Who In American Music” in 1980, with some 50 musical compositions to his credit. Mr. Blewett’s “Dramatic Overture” on original composition was chosen to be given a world premier performance at the Rockland County Bicentennial celebration and later at Manhattan School of Music, NYC. Mr. Blewett very proudly served in the United States Navy in both WWII and the Korean War. Being the last of the Blewett’s, Quentin is survived by his dearly beloved, Marion Wassellon of Piermont. Quentin had many venues of interest including, music, art, philosophy, poetry, travel love of life in general and will be sorely missed for his elegant and generous nature as well as his music. As well as the private cremation a gathering of Close friends will be held in Piermont to reflect upon and memorialize his life. Donations can be made in Mr. Blewett's memory to the Rockland Symphony Orchestra.
