Alice Neargarder Alice Neargarder, 86, of Howard Beach, NY, died 10:39 A.M. Monday, February 20, 2017 at Long Island Jewish Hospital. She was born September 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Anthony and Elvira (Bonanno) Ottimo. She married Joseph Neargarder on June 19, 1954, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2004. She is survived by her children: Joyce (Lewis) Maciocia of Howard Beach and Edward (Denise) Neargarder of Palm City, Florida. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Joseph Neargarder, Alison Maciocia, Lewis Maciocia, Jr. and Nicole Neargarder. She is also survived by in-laws: Patti and Bill Goubeau of Saint Marys, Ohio; Jean and Byron Dotson of Mill Creek, Washington; Penny and Robert Neargarder of San Jose, California; Val and Richard Neargarder of Saratoga, California. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; and in-laws: Clarence Neargarder, Maria Neargarder, Sister Jacinta Neargarder, and George Neargarder. Alice was a graduate of New Utrecht High School. Alice will always be remembered for her dedication to her family, her warm and loving personality, and her many dear friendships over the years Friends may call from 2-5 and 7-10 P.M. Thursday and Friday at James Romanelli-Stephen Funeral Home, 89-01 Rockaway Blvd, Ozone Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:45 A.M., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Ozone Park. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in the Ave Maria Gardens. .
