Robert Warner Moore Obituary

POTSDAM – Mr. Robert Warner Moore, 89, of May Road, peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, December 3, 2016 at his home after a brief illness.


Bob was born December 12, 1926 in Canton, the son of the late Carl Cramer and Irma Louise (Warner) Moore. He was a graduate of Canton High School and attended Clarkson College. On March 23, 1945, he entered the US Army serving with the Japanese Occupation Forces for nine months. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1946. He married Laura Lloyd on June 6, 1953 at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Norwood.


Bob worked for Niagara Mohawk for 37 years, retiring in 1984 as a supervisor on the line crew. He, along with his wife, owned and operated Rainbow Antiques for many years. As antique dealer, he traveled extensively to different shows and flea markets. He was a member of the Racket River Lodge #513 of Free and Accepted Masons, the American Legion Post #74, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #2074, and the Niagara Mohawk 25 year Club. As an avid hunter, he once belonged to the Cold Spring Hunting Club and the Chapp Hill Hunting Club. He and his wife also enjoyed wintering in Punta Gorda, Florida for many years.


Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Laura; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Walter Clark of Florida; his granddaughter, Danielle Clark; his brother and sister-in-law, Jennings “Jack” and Jane Moore of Florida; his nieces and nephews, William and Carl Moore, Kathleen F. and Steve Warr, and John and Carol Fries; and many great nieces and great nephews.


In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his son, Robert Lloyd Moore on August 17, 1983.


A memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will be held Monday, December 12th at 11:00 AM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam with Mother Kathryn Boswell, officiating. Friends may call starting at 10:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Canton.


In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church, Norwood in Bob’s memory.
